Vytorin

Deciding What to Do About Vytorin

If you take Vytorin and have not talked with your doctor, the American Heart Association recommends you make an appointment to do so.

  • "If you're on a statin, you should stay on a statin," says Timothy Gardner, M.D. "If you're on Vytorin, talk to your doctor to see whether he or she thinks you should stay on it. If your doctor thinks you need a second drug because the statin isn't effective enough, there are other options besides ezetimibe."
  • Never stop or change your heart medicine without first checking with your doctor. High cholesterol is a big risk factor for heart disease.
