Top Two Ways to Lose Weight

Two key lifestyle changes will lead to a healthier, happier, new-and-improved you.

Dive into the water and swim a few laps instead of lolling by the pool this summer. It’s good for the heart and the waistline. Building more summertime activities into your day will help burn calories, a goal of many overweight Americans.

In the United States, about 650 people out of 1,000 are overweight or obese. Healthwise, this means they’re more likely to suffer from life-threatening illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. People who are overweight also suffer from discrimination in the workplace. They’re less likely to be hired and more likely to make less money if they are hired.

Virtually all experts agree the obesity epidemic is spiraling out of control. Some medical experts even suggest that our expanding waistlines could undo much of the progress in medicine and resulting longevity made over the past two centuries.

So what can and should you do to prevent becoming another statistic? Nutrition experts say the answer is a simple two-part process: Practice portion control, and exercise often. In other words, eat less and move more. Here’s how:
