Sodium 101: Shake the Salt Habit
Amount Advised
Here are the recommended daily amounts of sodium advised by the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association:
For adults up to the age of 50: 2,300 milligrams or less
For those older than age 50, African-Americans, and those with high blood pressure: 1,500 milligrams or less
