The Association of Black Cardiologists’ REACH (Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health for Wellness) and CHOICES (Changing Health Outcomes by Improving Cardiovascular Education and Screening) programs are funded by grants to work in specific geographical areas.
REACH, which is supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Fulton County, Georgia, Department of Health and Wellness, is in downtown Atlanta’s economic-development “empowerment” zone.
CHOICES, sponsored by pharmaceutical company Novartis, is in four metropolitan areas and one rural county: Phoenix, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York City, and Claiborne County, Mississippi.
