Blood Pressure Guidelines
Normal: less than 120/80
Prehypertension: 120/80–139/89
Hypertension: 140/90 or higher

Cholesterol Guidelines
Total cholesterol        
Best: 200 mg/dL and lower           
Borderline: 200–239 mg/dL
High: 240 mg/dL and up

LDL cholesterol
Best: 100 mg/dL and lower
Borderline: 100–129 mg/dL
High: 130 mg/dL and up

HDL cholesterol
Best: 60 mg/dL and up          
Borderline: 40–59 mg/dL       
Low: 40 mg/d and lower

Triglycerides
Best: 150 mg/dL  and lower         
Borderline: 150–199 mg/dL
High: 200 mg/dL and up

Sodium Guidelines
For adults up to age 50: 2,300 milligrams or less
For those older than 50, African-Americans, and those with high blood pressure: 1,500 milligrams or less.
