Program An Emergency Contact
in Your Cell Phone

By Sally Finder-Koziol

Rescue personnel across the country are asking people to program In Case of Emergency, or ICE, contacts in cell phone address books. If an accident or illness renders you unconscious, rescue workers can reach for your cell phone and find an emergency contact instantly. You can make more than one ICE entry by labeling them ICE-Husband, ICE-Mom, ICE-Son, and so on. An added benefit to the ICE program, police say, is that it helps return lost cell phones to their owners. Most significant, ICE listings give emergency workers one more tool in providing the best care possible—and can help them save lives.
