Sleep Disorder Clue 2: Snoring
A bed partner may have noticed sleep noises that you aren’t aware of. Tell your doctor if your partner says you snore loudly and frequently, perhaps with pauses in the snoring followed by choking or gasping sounds. This can be a sign of sleep apnea.

Heart-Healthy Tip: People with sleep apnea are at greatest risk for sudden cardiac death during sleep hours. Frequent pauses in breathing lead to arousals from deep to lighter sleep, which puts repeated stress on the heart, says William Abraham, M.D., a cardiologist at Ohio State University.
