at-home spa tips

Breathe
Relieve stress through Cal-a-Vie’s meditative breathing. Sit comfortably. Close your eyes. Inhale and imagine you’re breathing in light and a positive feeling. Exhale and release negative thoughts, pain, or imbalance.

Write
Write down your thoughts in a journal. Recording them allows you to look at yourself objectively; rereading them lets you think and digest before you act. “Journaling is cathartic because, much like yoga, it is a physical act joining mind and body,” says Jill Keller, spa spokesperson.

Pamper
Nourish damaged hair with a creamy avocado hair mask. Combine 1 cup mayonnaise with 1 ripe, mashed avocado. Massage the mix into your hair; cover with a shower cap and leave on for at least 20 minutes. Shampoo as usual. The rich oils will leave your hair shiny and moisturized.

Soothe
After working out, soothe muscle aches with hot apple cider stirred with a cinnamon stick. “It’s one of the healthiest drinks you can get,” says spa coordinator Janice Picone. “It replenishes and warms the body, introducing antioxidants.”
