Don’t Act Your Age...Play!
It’s An Attitude
Play, experts say, is something you do for its own sake, for the pure delight of the moment. Many people erroneously lump the word “play” together with “recreation” and “leisure” as terms to describe activities we choose to do in our spare time. There are many ways to spend free time, but they’re not all play. To truly be considered play, an activity must involve certain components.
In short, play isn’t so much a group of certain activities, but an attitude. It’s not defined by what you’re doing or where you’re doing it, but rather how you’re doing it. Whether you’re painting a picture, planting flowers, golfing, listening to music, or just staring at the clouds, you’ll know you are playing by the look on your face and the feeling in your heart—relaxed, content, immersed, and not at all self-conscious.
