the vacation cure

extend the getaway feeling

To maintain a relaxed outlook when your vacation is over, plan a full day at home before going back to work. Use that extra day to unpack, do laundry, sort through mail, and return calls.

Research has shown that productivity increases after people return from a getaway. They feel rested and often have gained a fresh perspective on projects. To keep your newly recharged mode, be sure to get away from your desk for a true lunch break, and schedule workouts during the week. Coax coworkers out for a walk. Or, if you prefer quiet time, build a meditation break into the day. Post vacation pictures at your desk that make you smile. The stress-free state you experienced while on vacation can last even after you return to work.
