Adult Stem Cell Research: Hope for Healing Hearts
Could Stem Cells Lead to Cancer?
HHL: Since cancer also is the replication of cells, could stem cells worsen cancer?
HARE: That’s a concern. Many of us think cancer is a stem cell problem. If it is, stem cell therapy could worsen or even cause tumors. We will have to be on the lookout for it. In the early days of stem cell therapy, if patients also have cancer or have had it recently, they probably will not be good candidates for the therapy.
