Adult Stem Cell Research: Hope for Healing Hearts
What’s in the Future for Stem Cells?
HHL: What does the future hold for stem cell research?
HARE: Although we are still far from everyday practice, stem cell studies offer hope. So many doctors are working in stem cell research that a medical journal called Stem Cell is being published.
Once the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reviews current stem cell studies and consents to more, researchers will expand current trials to include more people. Only then can actual treatments be approved.
We’re much farther down the path than you might think. I would expect to see these therapies possibly available for human use in as soon as five years.
