Will also likes making Chinese food, as much for the flavor as for the short turn-around time needed to create something appetizing. “The other night I made dinner in about half an hour,” he says. “With a little time and a few good ingredients, you can always make great food. I think the important thing is to include all the vegetables that you want—then add meat or some other protein if you choose.”
Will and Ashley are passing on to their girls many of the nutritional lessons that Mary Lee demonstrated to her sons. For example, they believe in the importance of introducing children to all kinds of food at an early age.
“My mom always tells me you can feed the kids almost anything, even fast food, once in a while. It’s just a matter of controlling portions and not eating too many less-than-healthy things,” Will says. “You don’t have to force them to eat a particular thing, but I think the more food you introduce them to, the more prone they are to liking things like vegetables. “
